Trainee Cristian Scheltinga:
"You are accepted here as you are."

At SPARQ Balustrades, we appreciate people who think in a practical as well as a commercial way. Our intern Cristian Scheltinga (22) from Wolvega fits in perfectly. He is studying Commercial Technician at Deltion College and chose SPARQ Balustrades to gain practical experience in both technical and commercial work.

A study with a practical and commercial slant

Cristian says he consciously chose the combination of engineering and commerce. He doesn't just want to sit behind a desk, but to actively work with his hands. "I like that I can develop in sales talks, but also get to work myself in the workshop or on assembly."

Tasks and responsibilities

During his internship, Cristian mainly deals with processing sales orders and purchase orders. "When a mail comes in, I prepare quotations and make sure everything is in the system properly. When customers are happy with my work, it gives me recognition-that motivates me." In addition, he sometimes goes along on assembly, so he can see how the products look and are installed in practice. His technical side also comes in handy here, especially when improvisation is needed on site.

An instructive internship in a nice working atmosphere

Cristian says he values a good working atmosphere. "Everyone here is there for you," he explains. "My internship supervisor Jorrit actively helps me, but also all the other colleagues are always willing to answer questions." This makes Cristian really feel part of the team: "I am really treated as a full employee here; I can email or call customers directly and I get a lot of freedom in how I approach my tasks."

Added value and personal development

As an intern, Cristian hopes to contribute by picking up preparatory work that is time-consuming for colleagues. In this way, he ensures that projects run smoothly. At SPARQ Balustrades, he learns mainly in the area of customer contact: "At school, you practice role plays, but here you deal with real customers. I notice that I grow very quickly in this area. The internship helps me learn to communicate professionally."

Future prospects

Although he does not yet know exactly where he will be in five or 10 years' time, Cristian is considering moving on to further studies, such as Technical Business Administration. He is curious about how machines and processes can be made more efficient and how he can further develop his technical and commercial skills.

A warm welcome and open culture

Cristian praises the openness within SPARQ Balustrades. "The northern mentality appeals to me: everyone is down-to-earth and appointments are made smoothly. I can be myself here and feel really welcome. I find that very important."

Highly recommended for new trainees

For those considering an internship at SPARQ Balustrades, Cristian has a clear message: "You are accepted here as you are. It's a nice team with a good working atmosphere. There is hard work, but also plenty of room for a chat."

We welcome Cristian's commitment and enthusiasm. He is a valuable addition to our team and we look forward to growing with him.Curious about internship or career opportunities at SPARQ Balustrades? Feel free to contact us. We will be happy to tell you more!
